This series consists of a ledger of road construction activities. The ledger contains accounting information on activities related to construction and maintenance of roads on Indian reservations. Information includes account title, date, an explanation or posting reference, debits, credits, and balances. For some projects, expenditures are broken down according to labor, materials, and depreciation, with monthly and yearly totals for each.

The Tomah Indian School was authorized as a nonreservation boarding school in 1891 and opened in 1893. The Tomah Indian School was given agency duties in 1911 for the Hocak (Winnebago) Indians of Wisconsin. Agency duties were transferred to the Grand Rapids Agency in 1916, but in 1927 that agency-level jurisdiction was consolidated with the Tomah School, which regained its agency status.
